Charlotte
FRG/NL 1980. Dir: Frans Weisz. 95 min. Engl. OV. DCP
With Birgit Doll, Derek Jacobi, Elisabeth Trissenaar, Brigitte Horney, Max Croiset, Peter Capell

A touching drama about the Jewish artist Charlotte Salomon, who lived in French exile. With her famous gouache cycle “Life? Or theater? A Singing Game”, she has drawn a colorful “storyboard” of her life in Berlin. In 1943, she, 26 years old and five months pregnant, was murdered in Auschwitz-Birkenau, while her father and stepmother managed to escape to the Netherlands.
